I made a few purchases here throughout the years. I stopped for items made of koa on the four major islands and this store has the best prices. They have their own shop attached to the store and since they are fabricating they keep the prices reasonable.
8/23/17 Update: Went back to purchase another Koa wood picture frame. This time the selection was next to null. It's getting harder and harder to buy a plain frame with the curled Koa grain. But they do now have a window into their workshop so you can see how their woodworking first hand.
Off the Kuhio Hwy, there is a small parking lot attached to the store.They also sell Koa lumber if you are a woodworker yourself.
Great merchandise, I could've bought everything in the store. Not a tourist trap. The prices are very good. It was our 5th anniversary and we got new wedding rings made of Tungsten and Koa wood. Beautiful! (5th year is wood)
The Koa tree only grows in the Hawaiian islands. It can only be harvested if the tree is dead or dying. This makes the wood itself one of the most expensive woods in the world. It comes in different shades and is valued by the grain or the curl you can see on the wood. This woodworking store makes many one-of-a-kind home decor and office pieces - boxes, picture frames, lamps, pens, wine stoppers, jewelry, etc. all crafted by hand and made in Kauai.

Every time we visit Kauai we stop here to buy one of The Koa Store's gorgeous picture frames to "frame" a special moment in our lives. Each frame is slightly different in color and tonality because of the uniqueness of the Koa wood. The lady wraps the frame tightly with plenty of paper and we always put it in our check-in luggage. It's never damaged after we unpack our usually heavy suitcase.
What a great place to find some Hawaiian-made gifts. Everything was beautiful and prices were reasonable. Ended up with a koa wood and abalone ring to wear as my everyday wedding band, a koa necklace and a magnet for my mom.
