A very expensive meal with astoundingly slow service make Gaylord's a place to skip if you're in the area. While the decore is nice, you will wait at least 10 minutes for every drink order and even longer for food. It took well over an hour for our main courses to come out and when they finally did, they served half of our group of 6 and took so long to serve the other half, we told our group to just start eating before their food got cold. By the time our last member got his food, the first had completely finished his meal. You're going to pay so much money here for a sub par experience it's not worth it unless you're the most patient person on the planet. The only saving grace is the food does taste good but it's a diminishing returns issue.
Every time we come to Kauai we go to Gaylord’s. Something has changed, and it’s not for the better. My wife asked for a steak and asked our waiter Sam what the center of their medium rare was like. His impudent answer was they had a professional chef and it was cooked to medium rare —— our first hint he was a terrible waiter. After taking our order, we never saw him again until after the busboy gave us a dessert menu. He never checked back during our meal. I had fish that was very dry and had been burned on the grill. Dinner lasted almost 2 hours, the table next to us took over 1 hour just to get some appetizers. Terrible waiter, terrible service. Won’t return next time on Kauai.
We really enjoyed Gaylord's. The setting is wonderful with lots of small shops selling unique crafts made by local artisans. Dinner was on a covered lanai dining room that borders a courtyard. We all enjoyed our food immensely. The Pork Spareribs were fantastic as were all our desserts.
I really enjoyed this place. Went on a Wednesday, happened to be "Wined Down Wednesday" where usual bottles were offered for about $20 bucks cheaper. Always a plus. Dinner was great, view was nice and dessert was even better. They also had a young guy in the bar singing and playing piano and he had an excellent voice. Cherry on top.
We really enjoyed the brunch buffet. Our main waiter, Madison, was very efficient and personable. Lionel, her assistant, did a wonderful job of making us laugh and making sure we were enjoying ourselves. We will definitely be back on our next vacation!
