I'm overdue in writing a review, but I had a great Aloha experience renting from KMC. The bike I rented was in perfect condition, and made my 2 day trip so fun on Kauai. Not only that, when I brought the bike back, I was running late to the airport, and it looked like I was going to miss my flight, but the owner offered to give me a ride, and I made it. That is going above and beyond, and that's how dealing with KMC feels. It's a mom and pop business, but they're doing it right. Next time I com to Kauai, I'm renting from them.
Super disappointed, I called a week in advance in attempts to check availability for a reservation. I left a voicemail as they ask with my name number and reservation dates. I called two days prior to arriving to see if I could get someone to answer and no luck. When I arrived on the island I dropped by their location and knocked on the doors with no answer, the bikes were sitting there, the windows were open on the business but crickets. I wished there were more options I was aware of it was the one thing I really wanted to do while I was on the island.
We received a confirmation email and even spoke on the phone with the company, but the day we came to pick up the bike nobody was there. It’s a residence. There was also another couple who made online reservations looking to pick their bike up as well. The company did respond via our email inquiry saying the computer had listed a different day....even though our computer generated confirmation listed the correct dates. Save yourself the hassle and skip this place.
I tried booking one of their bikes about a month in advance and they did not send me an email until the day before my planned booking. The email had informed me that they declined my booking and to email or call them back. I went to the location of their office and all the bikes on the website were sitting in their little garage area. I knocked on their doors but no answers. Tried calling but only got a message to book online. Rented a Harley instead.
Very kind and friendly customer service. Easy and available communication. The motorcycle was clean and it worked ok but here are the drawbacks: there was a bald back tire that made the motorcycle less stable. The tire should have been changed a while ago. The clutch was too tight/out of adjustment and there was way to manually adjust it. There was no oil in the chain - it needed much lube- it was dry and rusty. The brake power fluid was low which could be dangerous. In general it seemed that there was minimal needed maintenance. We recommend routine maintenance at the end or or beginning of each new rental.
