I drove special from Kekaha to Lihue to enjoy the best tasting oxtail soup w/all the fixens!
Great local food. Get there early because they are always busy. Defiantly worth the trip.
Went to Duke’s and they had a private function so could not eat there. Saw 4.6 rating for Smiley on google. Read the reviews that they had great food. We were there at 5:05pm just as they opened for dinner. Asked the server what’s most popular and ordered the spicy garlic chicken to share. Then decided to add a side order of 1 shrimp tempura ($2.25 ea). When order came, she brought the Shrimp Tempura Entree ($14!) . Shrimp was decent size and looked good so decided not to dispute. However, It tasted bland. The chicken. Was very salty ( not spicy at all but salty) and did not have garlic taste. It was a very disappointing meal considering the price paid and our final meal on Kauai before flying off. Did not intend to give poor review but felt needed to share just in case other are misled by some of the reviews posted.
Food was hella good! Try the boneless fried chicken and oxtail soup was a good combo. If i live here ill probably eat here all the time. Service was great also!
Great local food. Love the spicy garlic Smiley's chicken, prime rib and pork adobo (special). It's a tiny place with only a few tables & seats, so be prepared to wait for table or Order ahead and take out.
