I used hertz last year and they had the car ready upon arrival.
UPDATE: I called their customer service line and takes to Angel and her supervisor Kathy. I know their jobs are difficult and was extremely polite to them but despite the effort Kathy actually hung up on me.
Avis work on your customer service!!!
Our condo gave us a promo code so Avis was the most reasonable price on Van rental. We needed a car big enough for 6 people and this was perfect. It was ready for us when we arrived. Check in and out was simple and easy.
Chronically understaffed. It took more than 60 minutes to get my car, so long that I couldn’t go on a hike on my first day anymore. When asked for pricing, I was told net amounts and had to pay an extra 50% for fees and taxes. The Jeep I got was nice but the roof doesn’t close properly and it rains into the car. 2 stars for friendly staff.
I reserved a car for 12:30 paid in full. Upon arrival I waited in line for 1 hour then I had to wait another 45 minutes for the car to be cleaned. What is the point of reserving the car?
The car was great and as promised and the return was easy. The service was fast when we arrived but the female clerk tried to upsell us on the car - a mid size sedan - telling us that with all the recent rain, we'd need an SUV because the water was so high on the North Shore. Did not appreciate that piece of "advice".
UPDATE 3: After an hour on the phone I finally talked to a person that was not out right rude and he resolved the issue.
UPDATE 2: They sent me a bill for $250 to clean the vehicle. The pictures revealed some sand in the front floor board. In the hour I was waiting for them to clean my rental on pick up I looked inside the car and it was just as dirty. So I'm curious if EVERYONE gets hit with this cleaning fine!
Hawaii is a beautiful place and the excitement that landing at the airport beings is brought to a screeching halt as you arrive at Avis. The line for a car takes about an hour just to get to the desk. Once you get there, if you don't upgrade, there are no cars immediately available and you need to wait even longer for them to clean and prep the car. It's unbelievable and I will never use Avis again based on this experience and the identical experience at the Maui Avis.
