I ended up going to Alamo across the street, they were still open, prices were reasonable, and customer service was great!
Long, slow lines and old, smelly, dirty car that didn't even have a USB drive to plug into so that a phone could be charged/connected. People were pleasant enough, but this was truly the worst car rental experience I have ever had. Return was incredibly slow too. I would give zero stars if it was an option.
Thrifty was a bad start to what turned out to be a great vacation in Kauai!
Signed up for a convertible for our family on our trip. Told them we needed to be able to fit four adults and a car seat. Was given a mustang. Definitely a fun car like we wanted but not big enough for a car seat and four adults. They exchanged it for a Nissan Rouge. Nice enough vehicle, could fit us all tightly but not the "fun" vehicle that we were hoping for. The mustang did not come clean, no one inspected either of the vehicles with us, etc. Just not our normal good quality service that we are used to.
Easy check in , got upgraded to s minivan which worked out great to get around the island .
Just want to say my whole experience with Thrifty Car Rental was fabulous. Michael was kind and helpful when I needed to come in a change my car (engine light was on), and both times with I returned the car (when needing the exchange, and at the end of my trip) I had the pleasure of being assisted at the drop-off zone by Vernon. What a gem he is! Vernon was happy, kind and made the whole experience really sweet. Efficient, friendly service! (January 2017)
The worst service I've ever had! My flight was delayed and they said they would stay open until all flights landed for the evening. My flight landed at 11 and I was at thrifty by 11:10, and they were closed. I was staying 45 minutes north and was stranded. I called before my flight left to confirm TWICE that they would be open and they assured me that they would. They were not. DO NOT rent here! Terrible, terrible experience!
