- Firstly, they cannot provide 3rd party personal liability insurance like the proper car companies, so if you drive a car from them and you are from outside the US you are driving ILLEGALLY!
I rented a car for 1 week from these guys. After day 1 I realized that I was driving illegally as they don't have insurance. I tried to return the car and get a refund for the unused days and they refused! They ended up agreeing a refund for the child seat rentals only (i.e. Nothing!) and then still had the audacity to short change me on the refund which was agreed in writing. THESE GUYS ARE SCAMMERS!
I enjoyed the pleasure of renting from these guys. Check in was super easy and quick. The staff was very knowledgeable about the island, even pin pointed spots to check out on the map. I would definitely recommend this company! I for sure will be returning!
- The company is based nowhere near the airport, so if you think you can easily pick up and drop off the car from the airport you are mistaken! There is no sign for this company at the airport so good luck trying to find them after a long flight! Even better they rarely answer their phone!
This is our 2nd time using Economy/J&J Rentals! Staff is friendly and easy going. Cars are clean and within a year or two old.

- economy car rentals in Lihue is actually J&J car rentals Lihue, who have a shocking reputation, and who have nothing to do with the economy car rentals brand except they pay to use the website. They even admitted this time when I asked!
- There is no roadside assistance. If you have a problem with their old, run down cars, i.e. a flat tire then it is your responsibility.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY- THEY ARE NOT LEGIT!!!!!!
